Located on 3500 acres in the high California Desert, Ivanpah is the world’s largest solar thermal power plant. There are three solar power plants at the site, generating a net output of 377 MW. IEP’s CCO led the negotiation of 3 long term PPAs, two with PG&E and one with SCE. He also led the project financing of the power facility, including the sale of project equity to Google and NRG. The project also includes a $1.5Billion debt facility backed by the US DOE. Bechtel was the EPC, and CH2MHill performed the environmental analysis and mitigation. The project produces over 1,000 GWh of electricity on an annual basis, and provides reliable solar power backed up at the power plant with natural gas to over 200,000 homes in California.
